About Us
Southern Spine and Sport offers an evidence-based, integrated approach to patient health care.
Rather than following traditional chiropractic treatment programs, an integrated approach to your healthcare is based on clinical research. Each patient is unique, requiring equally distinctive treatment programs. While chiropractic adjustments are important, they are only one health care tool. Some patients need adjustments, others benefit from muscular manipulation and a majority of our patients require a combination of joint manipulation, muscular therapy and rehabilitation techniques.
The key to the evidenced based model of chiropractic care is to diagnose not only the symptoms you have, but WHY you have them.
Example: Most often low back pain is coming from an injured disc, discs are the cushions in between each of your vertebrae. If we identify you have a disc injury, causing your pain, we must ask another more important question, ”WHY is your disc injured?”
If you ever went to doctor, whether it be an MD and felt rushed and only given a piece of the puzzle or another Chiropractor that wanted to see you for an absurd amount of visits, pay up front, or cattle herded through your treatment, at Southern Spine and Sport you will never feel this way. We will help you put all the pieces of the puzzle together and take time to discuss your problem, because no one knows you like you. We take the time so that we can uncover the root cause and then do what it takes to correct it, so you can live the life you want.
Daniel Holland DC (Dr. Dan)
Dr. Dan began his education at University of Missouri where he earned an undergraduate degree in business and continued to earn his MBA so that he could start a career in finance. After a doctor told him he would need to have surgery on his shoulder and the surgery would restrict him from doing some of his most beloved hobbies, he sought alternative care with a local chiropractor. The treatment not only prevented him from getting the surgery but changed his life.
He was so inspired and amazed at what chiropractic could do for the body that he changed his life plans, and he returned to school to become a chiropractor. He earned his second undergraduate degree in human sciences then went on to Logan College of Chiropractic to obtain his doctorate. Dan graduated Logan with 3.5 GPA and was awarded Student Researcher of 2009 for his work in a multi-site international study investigating the effects of spinal manipulation on Hip Osteoarthritis. He still travels far and wide to attend advanced seminars across the nation to learn from many of the top doctors in the world, whether it is MD, DC, PT or DO, so he can in take the best parts and incorporate it to his treatment protocols to achieve the best results for his patients.
In 2012, Dan was accepted to South Florida’s USAT(University of Science Art and Technology) Medical program where he completed his Doctorate of Medicine. He since has completed the majority of rotation hours along with passing Steps 1 and 2 of the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Exam). He is not currently licensed in Tennessee to practice Medicine, but when asked he says “ I am not sure I ever want to practice Medicine, I love what I do now, I just wanted to fill in the gaps of my education so I could easily work together with my counterparts and provide the highest quality of care for my patients.”
Dan still engages in all of his hobbies; which include, trail biking, camping, canoeing, corn hole and performance training, without pain. He is very excited to help anyone that truly wants to recover from their problem no matter how small or how complicated.
